Treasure Hunt at Sea?

I was reading and came across the idea of a treasure hunt at sea. Many of us travel in groups, or join a Facebook group to meet people before our cruise. A great way to be interactive with the group is to create a treasure hunt at sea.

You first have to decide what type of treasure hunt- photo, object or a combination of both. If the treasure hunt contains objects, it is best to allocate a longer time for the hunt. When deciding the type of treasure hunt, you can also decide if you want to include a theme.

Theme ideas include-Holiday, Port, Cultural, Nautical, All-Star, Pirates, Super Hero and more. There are many Treasure Hunt/Scavenger themes and downloads on Pinterest. Another challenge, is ship specific questions- colors of signs, how many steps in between certain decks, how many seats in theatre, how tall is smoke stack, how many crew onboard, and many more. If you are really adventurous you can start the photo treasure hunt as you are on your way to ship, packed luggage, boarding pass, photo with passport, airplane/car ride, and hotel (if applicable).

If you need help getting started with photo ideas here are a few-

A ship team member with a chef hat on

Another cruise ship

Towel Animal

Photo with a chef

Decorations on a stateroom door

Fruit carved into an animal shape

Photo of an empty pool/hot tub

The license plate of a vehicle from one of the countries on the cruise

A certain drink Famous person look a like

Member of group singing Karaoke

Someone sleeping in a show

We know you get the idea, I found a lot of pre-made templates on Google.

If you wish to use objects, here a few suggestions, I think it's easier to do a mix of objects and photos since coming up so many physical items may be harder.

A casino chip

A logo item

Autograph of Captain

Bingo Card

Drink of the day card

Currency from another country

Post card from another country

I also came across some fun themes related to kids and teaching them ship terminology. They would get a photo- gangway, aft, bow, port, starboard, muster station, kids club, promenade, customer service, theatre and more.

We hope you enjoyed these simple ideas to create easy group fun and memories. Please follow us for more group ideas and fun group excursions.
