Hurricane Season

Writer's picture: KelliKelli

A few days ago we entered back into Official Hurricane Season. Although the past few years they have been tracking storms as early as May. The official Hurricane Season runs June 1-November 30 every year. What does this mean for you as a cruiser?

The cruise lines take every precaution to keep ships out of the path of storms. If there is an eminent danger, the cruise line will re-route the ship out of harms way. They may have to adjust ports or times of departure but you will still enjoy your cruise.

A few years ago, we had to come back into Port Canaveral early on our arrival. We arrived back in port by 4 am, so that they could start debarking at 6 am instead of 7am. They also turned the entire ship and left Port Canaveral by 3pm, instead of 4:30 so that they could be out of the path of the storm. Don't worry, we have cruised in the middle of hurricane season every September for years. Only once after a hurricane did we have to change our itinerary, which was in 2016.

Cruise with confidence!
