Bigger Isn’t Always Better

The only way to know the answer to this is to remember the adage, “It’s what’s inside that counts”.

Well, for Norwegian cruise ships this is definitely the case. We have been on a couple of the smaller Norwegian Cruise ships and had a great time! If you like to be social, one of the most notable advantages to a smaller ship is a smaller group of people. You are much more likely to see the same people at the same bar every day (or hour), meet them and become friends. When you are galavanting on a floating monstrosity there are a ton of bars, and literally 400,000 tons of human (yes I did some math there),,,,, this makes the odds of getting to know other wine-loving like-minded people statistically less likely (unless that floats your boat—-haha)

I have also discovered that the major difference between a smaller vessel and a larger one is the extracurricular activities offered. Rocks walls, water slides, go-cart tracks, etc.  And generally, you have to pay for these things (technically in the cruise price) whether you partake or not. So, if you no~like~to~partake, then you should consider selecting a smaller vessel for your next journey.

Odd small boat fact. The food is typically better. <Typically> Reason: The chefs and staff are able to spend a little more time making sure your meal is perfect. On a super liner, they are literally making massive quantities of food in large dumpster sized pots ((over exaggerating a tiny weeny bit)) and sometimes the salt doesn’t always mix perfectly. But seriously, the food, and service, is almost always better on a Shorty.

Yes, the smaller ships usually only run shorter routes, and go to places you’ve already been to a gagillion times, but it’s not the end of the world. You will survive, even though your liver won’t, and at the end of the trip you will look back and say you loved it! What’s not to love. If you cruise a lot you already know that it’s really up to you to have fun!!

It’s what’s on the inside is what counts.....and on a Norwegian Cruise..... it’s the Tequila, the Caymus, the Stella, and the OMG chocolate volcano cake!!

Stay Cruising My Friends!!
